Hi folks – just to let you know, both episode 54 & 55 of the Meeples & Miniatures Podcast are now ‘in the can’ and are currently being edited.
Recording for episode 54 was finished on Thursday, whilst episode 55 was recorded last night.
It’s going to be a few days before these get released – my first priority is to finish audio & video editing on the latest two Incoming! video podcasts – these should see the light of day by the end of the weekend, and episode 54 will then follow (hopefully by midweek). Episode 55 should be out a few days later.
Thanks for your patience – much more podcast goodness to come!

The observant amongst you may have noticed a slight change to the website – I’ve added a new Donate tab to the blog, which is on the top right of the page.

If you visit this page, it will enable you to make a donation to the show via Paypal. Simply click the logo and follow the instructions.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, producing the Meeples & Miniatures Podcast and Incoming! Vidcasts does incurr several costs. These include monthly hosting costs, audio hardware and software, and even the cost of the odd game to review.
Whilst the show is always going to be free to download, if you enjoy what you hear and see and feel that you want to help support the show, then making a donation (however small) will greatly help towards the cost of producing the podcast/vidcast on a regular basis.
Anyone who supports the show in this way will get a shout out on the next podcast.
Just to give you a heads-up, at the moment, in order to improve the quality of the shows, I’m looking at purchasing a new audio mixing board. I’m also looking at the possibility of geting some new video editing software and possibly a small digital video camera in the future. The mixing board is the priority.
Many thanks for your time and support…

Yes I know, it’s now November and I should have put a podcast out. It was really inevitable that this was going to be delayed, given that I’ve been in the Western Isles of Scotland for a week.
But, just to let you know what is happening…
I actually have 2 episodes of Meeples & Miniatures in the works at the moment.
One is going to concentrate on boardgames, and will consist of a detailed review of the new game from Columbia Games, Richard III. It will also include ‘open box’ reviews of Battlelore: Heroes, the new edition of Commands & Colors: Ancients, plus the brand new Commands & Colors Expansion Pack #4 Imperial Rome & Commands & Colors Expansion Pack #5 Epic Ancients II.
The second is concentrating of Miniatures rules, with a review of the new Extra Impetus #2 book, Colonial Adventures from Two Hour Wargames and (hopefully) Black Powder. If all goes to plan, I will be joined on this show by Rich Jones to discuss these products.
Finally, Henry Hyde and I are also planning the next episode of View from the Veranda. I think the main topic of conversation is going to revolve around using points systems in wargames. We are currently trying to schedule the recording of this episode, as Henry is somewhat busy trying to get issue 20 of Battlegames Magazine to press at the moment.
I haven’t forgotten about the promised video miniature reviews either. These are still a ‘work-in-progress’, but I’m getting there – albeit slowly.
Thank you for your patience and support – lots of new content coming soon!

Welcome to Episode 3 of View from the Veranda, with Neil Shuck & Henry Hyde.

Hi everyone
Just thought I’d give you a quick update with what is due to be happening during the course of October…the answer is ‘not a lot’.
Meeples & Miniatures – I’m hoping to get a short show out sometime in the next two weeks. This will probably be missing it’s ‘in-depth’ review though…
View from the Veranda – Henry and I recorded a show last Thursday, but I’ve been struggling for time to edit it (it didn’t help that we talked for 150 minutes!). Editing is ongoing, and I’m hoping to have this published (and running for under 2 hours!) next week.
Incoming! – Well, the vidcasts were published as normally last week, but are likely to take a small hiatus until the end of October.
Miniature Review Vidcast – I’m desperate to get some of these out, but I simply can’t see it happening until the end of the month.
“What is the problem?” I hear you ask?
A simple lack of time, I’m afraid. I spent half of last weekend in Oxford, and I’m away again this weekend, as my niece is getting married. Schools Half-Term week is upon us in October as well, and I’m away for two consecutive weekends as the family are on holiday in Skye (and the laptop has been banded from being taken!)
I’m (somewhat desperately) hoping that things will return to something approaching normal come the end of October – assuming I remember what normal is, of course!

Can you believe the summer is almost at an end? Everyone is planning for ‘going back to school’, England are preparing to finally lose the Ashes series – and I finally get to go away on holiday!
However, as a parting summer gift, I’ve uploaded Episode 52 of the Meeples & Miniatures podcast. This is a look back at what I’ve been doing over the summer – the UK Games Expo and Manorcon mainly – but with a bit of extra chat about my favourite Gen Con highlights (I almost felt like I was there) and even some chat about a computer game that would make a great miniatures game.
I hope you enjoy the show, and look out for lots of new content coming in September.
