Welcome to Episode 89 of the Meeples & Miniatures Podcast

In this show, I spend some time chatting about some of the recent and upcoming releases in the wargames world that have caught my eye, including the recent ‘Samurai Battles’ game from Zvezda.

In the main part of the show, I chat with Peter Berry from Baccus Miniatures.

I hope you enjoy the show.

  1. Is there any way to skip to the parts of your pod cast that are of interest, like the Peter Berry from Baccus interview? I didn’t want to sit through 45 minutes of other stuff just to get to that. Thanks Lloyd

    • Well, you did say “thanks” but if you send food back to the kitchen like that you had best have a strong stomach.

“You’ll get more with sugar than you will with sh*te”, as my grandmother would probably have said.

    • I can’t imagine anyone being able to answer that without knowing how you are listening to the podcast, but I would have thought it was obvious how you can fast forward or skip, whether on your PC or any other device. One for Google if necessary, rather than Neil, of whose hard work you appear to have been rather dismissive. But there you are, each to their own — I found the episode really interesting.

  2. Another great show Neil, thank you. I do think you need to record a new WSS piece, however, because you are still extolling the virtues of Issue 59. Perhaps something generic so that you don’t have to keep updating it. Really nice work though, always a pleasure to hear from Peter Berry and congratulations to him.

Neil, I noticed that your podcasts are getting better and better with each episode. I’m glad to have someone who’s podcasting about historical gaming rather than GW or board games. One thing that I kind of was confused about from the interview was discussion about what seemed to be a sci-fi line or at least talk about large tanks. I checked Baccus’ site and didn’t see any sci-fi mini’s, but I am interested in 6mm sci-fi so can someone point me in the right direction.

    Thank you,
    JJ

  4. Is it just me, or is that a drop in the sound quality when it gets to the Baccus interview? Neil sounds muffled, and I can’t make out what Peter is saying. Have I picked up a bit of static, and should download the episode again?

Apart from that, I enjoyed the first half of the show. 🙂

    • Andrew

The drop in audio quality is due to the fact that I am talking to Peter on a phone line, rather than directly skype-to-skype.
I didn’t think the quality was that bad – I’ve certainly done this sort of thing before. It’s not ideal, but little different to when it is done during interviews on the radio.

It’s not my preference, and I’m sorry its affected your listening, but sometimes its the only option available I’m afraid.

      Neil

  5. Great shout on Wil Wheaton’s show, some of those are hilarious and I doubt that I’d have stumbled across them otherwise. “Trophy of Awesome” indeed!
