I’m a big fan of alternative World War II settings – Project X, Tannhauser, Secrets of the Third Reich, Incursion to name a few…
In recent weeks, there has been a Kickstarter project running called Achtung! Cthulhu – if you’ve listened to some of my recent podcasts you will know that I’m going to be publishing an interview with Chris Birch from Modiphius Entertainment -we’ve just had some issues with getting some time together (real life getting in the way!) – but we are now recording on Monday night (26th March) and the show should be published within 24 hours of that date.
I’m a fan of the Cthulhu mythos, and the opportunity to marry this with a World War II setting seems too good to miss. The one downside for me (at least until this point) is that this has primarily been aimed at an RPG setting – Savage Worlds or Call of Cthulhu.
However, in the last couple of days, the Kickstarter Project has unlocked some miniatures – the initial concepts look superb:
These minis have, I think, finally pushed me over the edge into jumping on board with this project. They also have floor tiles planned, from the same artist who has designed tiles for Descent and Mansions of Madness for Fantasy Flight Games. I’m sure, coupled with the sourcebooks and existing rules, this can be converted into a skirmish wargame.
At time of writing it’s still got 13 days to go – plenty of time to get involved.
