War & Empire range of 15mm Ancients ready to launch

You may have noticed that Westwind/Forged in Battle have been quiet for a while…

Thanks to a very successful Kickstarter campaign last year (359 backers, £53,687 pledged), Andy, Wendy and the team at Westwind have been busy sculpting a brand new range of 15mm Ancients figures for their War & Empire range.

This is a large range of figures, which includes:

  • Germans
  • Parthians
  • Armenians
  • Arabs
  • Later Republican Romans
  • Spartacus Gladiators
  • Early Persians
  • Early Greeks
  • Sarmatians
  • Skythians
  • Thracians
  • Carthaginians
  • Celts
  • Numidians
  • Etruscans
  • Campanians
  • Oscans
  • Republican Romans
  • Spanish
  • Successors
  • Seleucids
  • Later Persians
  • Later Greeks
  • Macedonians
  • Indians

A total (currently) of 167 individual packs. There is also a accompanying range of buildings and accessories, including villagers and siege engines.

As well as individual packs, there are a total of 29 Starter Armies available, and 6 smaller Starter Sets.

This is very much a ‘big bang’ release – everything you will need to start ancient gaming in any of several periods. Whilst War & Empire are also producing their own rules, these figures will also be ideal for rules such as ‘To The Strongest’ and ‘Sword & Spear’ which have both been recently featured on the podcast.

They are currently up for pre-order on the Forged in Battle website, with a release date of May 5th. However, they should be available to purchase at Salute this coming Saturday.

We are hoping to speak to Andy & Wendy Cooper about this new range on the podcast very soon.

In the mean time, they are well worth a look. Here are some examples:
