We hope you enjoy the show
Great show chaps, very interesting to hear from Sam Mustafa at last. Looking forward to seeing more about Aurelian – did he really say “no dice”?? I like the idea of character progression (a la Longstreet) and the campaign setup this would lead to, so I was a bit surprised, as I think Mike was, that there would be no rules relating to sieges. While I wouldnt necessarily want to have a game that was literally just a siege, I think for a campaign it would be essential to factor in the capture of towns and cities as this was often the objective of a campaign anyway. First thought was that it might be possible to teleport in rules from one of the old boardgames which featured them, such as The Crusades by SPI. Further investigation required, if you can think of any other games that featured a relatively simple way of resolving sieges then do shout.
I think Sieges are really overlooked in the wargames/boardgames arena
I was thinking about ways to model a siege as part of a campaign system, I really should go back and write my thoughts down properly
Mike
Well I have some thoughts too so perhaps when I get them together I could ping them across to you…?
This episode certainly cost me a fair chunk of money: Maurice, Blucher, plus cards.
