Rivers *Finally* finished!
After what seems like an age, the rivers are finally done.
There is around 17′ in total – some people have said that is something on the excessive side, however if you break it down it seems reasonable…honest!
I have created them in two different widths: 75mm and 150mm so we have rivers suitable for both 6mm, 15mm and 28mm gaming.
In each width, we have approx. 7′ of straights (you need 7’+ for the longest straight on a 6′ x 4′ table). We have just over 2′ of bends (2 each of 30, 45 and 60 degrees in each width) and then each has two river crossings: a bridge and a ford.
It’s amazing how even adding the static grass to the banks appears to change the colour of the water.
The final touches of flowers and reeds are added from the Mininatur range, which I picked up from Annie Norman – the Dice Bag Lady.
Btw, thanks to everyone who suggested that I did need straw and brown coloured reeds – they did make a huge difference to the final result.
Wow, they look splendid!
It has to be said that I am rather pleased with the way they turned out 🙂
They do indeed, and I’m picking up some reeds from said dice bag lady at Derby!
Always found storing river sections problematic – how do you do it?
Err…I haven’t decided yet! Yes, it’s how to store them without squashing the flowers and reeds that you have just spent several hours sticking on.
Perhaps I need several wooden blocks so you can stack them – then just need a big box!
How about, if they are big enough…empty (and clean) pizza delivery boxes….? Course, one would have to eat ones way through rather a lot of pizzas…
