Last year, Spanish company Draco Ideas created a World War II wargame played with cards – 2GM Tactics. Now they have launched a Kickstarter to publish an English language version of the game, plus some expansions.
2GM Tactics is a deck-building / tactical wargame hybrid. At the start of a game, players build their deck of cards for the battle. These cards include units (Infantry, tanks, aircraft etc) and support cards. These are then used to fight a battle on a board, with each card representing a unit. It reminds me somewhat of a WWII version of Summoner Wars from Plaid Hat Games.
The base game pits Germans against Americans in 1944. However, the extra expansions give two extra theatres of war:
The Western Desert, with British and Italians
…and the Eastern Front with Germans and Russians
The game is for 1-4 players ( Yes, it can be played solo), and full rules are available to download on the Kickstarter page. You can also watch videos of example game play.
Essentially, this is a WWII wargame that can be carried around in a box, and could well be ideal for scratching that gaming itch whilst away on holiday, or when you haven’t got an opponent.
The Project fully funded within 24 hours. It is due to end on the 21st August, with estimated delivery in March 2017.
$37 will buy the base game, whilst $83 will get you the base game and the 4 expansion packs.
This certainly looks an interesting alternative to your usual WWII game.
