Fourth Quarter Football coming to Kickstarter on Boxing Day

I’m a big fan of American Football – it’s my favourite sport – so it’s great to see a miniatures game of this sport being produced (and no, Blood Bowl doesn’t count!)

Fourth Quarter Football are launching their game on Kickstarter on Boxing Day (Dec 26th) this year.

Admittedly, a game of American Football can be quite long, and whilst it’s true that you can’t win the game in the first three quarters, you can definitely lose it. However, when game is close, it all comes down to the 4th Quarter, and this is what this game represents.

The game is played as 7-a-side (This may seem a little weird, but it’s a format of the sport that is played at U19 level, especially in the UK), and the box comes with 14 resin 32mm miniatures, representing 7 offensive and 7 defensive players (although a box set with two full teams is available, for those people who want to paint their miniatures and have a full team in each strip) and has a KS price of £75 (+£7 postage). They are looking for a funding target of £7,000, which equates to 100 people ordering the game. The KS is due for delivery in August 2018 – just in time for the start of the next season!

I played a demo version of this game at the UK Games Expo earlier this year and really enjoyed it. In short, it’s a ‘proper’ American Football game – this is on my ‘must have’ list, and I’ve been waiting impatiently for the KS to appear.

Hopefully, once I received this and have the miniatures painted, at least I will be able to see the 49ers win a game!

We interviewed Andrew at the UK Games Expo 2017 – this can be found on Episode 212 Part I, starting at about 1:16:00

Fourth Quarter Football have also published a series of videos explaining how the game works:

  1. I prefer Canadian football. I wonder if you could modify the rules etc. In any case it looks interesting (but not enough for me to back it!)

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year!
