Friday night is gaming night. Well, one of several to be honest, but Friday nights I get to game with my son Josh, which is always a bit special.
We usually go to Battlefield Hobbies in Daventry, but this week we decided to stay a little closer to home and try the new board game café that he just opened in Leicester – Bean Gaming.
The café is quite large, so can accommodate a good number of gamers. It will cost you £2 an hour / player to play (capped at £5) which pays for your table and access to the gaming library. This currently contains over 100 games, with the hope to grow in future weeks. If, however, you bring your own games, table hire is at a reduced rate.
As well as the games on offer, Bean Gaming also offers a range of refreshments, including home made cakes and pastries, plus fresh pizza cooked in their own pizza oven – I believe a fuller menu of food should be on offer in the next few weeks.
As well as coffee and tea, the cafe is fully licensed for alcohol consumption, and has a range of bottled beers, cider and wine available.
In short, this is a great venue for playing games. The only downside at the moment is that they do not have any games available for sale – again, this is something they are hoping to change in the coming weeks.
We thoroughly enjoyed our evening, and will most definitely be back!
