Planning for the future of 2019

As we move into the second half of 2019, it is apparent that once again my purchasing power has outstripped my painting power by several thousand percent.

In an effort to redress this issue I have had to come up with a plan, both to get more models painted and regain my painting mojo. Unfortunately, as soon as you hear our next podcast recording, no one will believe that I came up with the idea before our guest – fellow podcaster Shaun Clark – is currently undergoing a challenge to paint an army a month for the next year.

My plan was to ensure that I painted an army a month between now and Christmas. However, I’m not stipulating the game, so an army could be something as small as a warband for Burrows & Badgers, or maybe Test of Honour, or something a bit larger like a force for Saga.

The rule doesn’t preclude any other painting, and can even just be to finish of an outstanding force (I’m thinking of my Planetfall Terran army at this point, which may distract me from wanting to buy other small scale sci-fi miniatures).

I’m starting off with something that should hopefully not be too strenuous – two starter fleets for Full Thrust. Admittedly, these do seem to have appeared from completely out of the blue, but they do relate to several conversations that were had at the start of the month – I am laying the blame squarely at the feet of Shaun Randell.

You never know, I may even get back into the swing of regular painting progress updates…

  1. Hey mate, join the buying/painting ratio club…

  2. Good luck Neil! All we need now is for you to put down your full list of unpainted armies so we can see you check them off as you go.

    • *sigh*
I know I will have to do a complete project catalogue at some point, just to get a grip on where my hobby is actually at.
However, this particular job is still in what I believe is known as the ‘procrastination phase’, or maybe simply CBA.

      😉

      • I think the very feel of the lead and plastic and cardboard boxes going through your fingers will inspire you and get you your painting mojo back. It will almost be exactly like the Dwarves of Erebor finding their long-forgotten gold…😉

  3. Good luck Neil! All we need now is a list of all your unpainted armies so we can see you cross them off as you go.

Try giving yourself a 30 day moratorium on buying new stuff. You might find it’ll inculcate a new, cheaper habit!

Goes and buys TWO new armies (fleets)
If only I could insert the Picard facepalm gif here 🙂
