Hobby Update – 9th February 2021
Started the week with another ‘Paint and chat’ session. These type of get togethers on social media – whether on Google Meet, Jitsi, Discord or whatever other platform you wish – have been an invaluable way of sharing hobby time. I hope that even when we can all safely mix again for gaming that these type of online gatherings continue.
Last night found me once again painting Goblins as I moved on to my ‘hand weapon’ unit. The method of painting in batches of 5 really suits this current painting style I am using, and I found that I had once again finished a group by the end of the evening.
During our conversation the subject of painting speed came up. I consider myself to be a slow painter, so didn’t say a lot. Frazier mentioned that he averaged a 28mm miniature painted in 40 minutes – I thought “wow, that’s quick, I could never manage that”. Later on I realised that this group below had taken just under 3 hours to finish, if you ignore basing.
As Frazier later said to me, “Practice makes perfect”

5 down, 15 to go in this unit.
Time for that 28mm Napoleonic Corps you always wanted!
